By Mrs. Hee, (Principal Jefferson Elementary School), Mrs. Hirano, Ms. Sasaoka and Ms. Kay.
KAMP Hawaii has taught our students important life skills early on in their life. Through the activities that Aaron and his staff have provided, the students have learned the values of respect, teamwork, and citizenship. When the earthquake struck Hawaii, the students were equipped with the knowledge to take care of themselves. KAMP Hawaii facilitates activities that correlate with the student’s curricular subjects. For instance, First Aid and Health Studies goes hand in hand. Social Studies is brought to life when the students demonstrate citizenship towards each other and those they interact with. Learning Science couldn’t be better. The students love learning how to cook. When all is done, the students write about their experiences. This exercise encourages them to write about their thoughts and emotions. We cherish Aaron and his staff with all that he has contributed for the students of Jefferson Elementary. With the skills learned, our hopes are that the students grow to become whole and knowledgeable in anything they set their sights on. By giving the students the ability to empower themselves, their future is so much brighter. Thank you KAMP Hawaii in helping us to accomplish this.
